Description:

The Safety Specialist is responsible for providingenvironmental safety & health services in a manufacturing environment. TheSafety Champion supports effort to reduce safety incidents in the local plant.He/she will track; remediate risks to ensure injury prevention, illness andproperty damage prevention as well as OSHA/EPA/DOT regulatory compliance. The SafetySpecialist is responsible for tactical application in the factory of allcompany Environmental Health and Safety policies, procedures and programs.

Consistently and independently performs assignments that arenot always standardized or prescribed. Exhibits deep expertise in a variety ofwork area(s) to support the safety requirements of a continuous flowmanufacturing process to meet production and quality standards.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates Safety training/orientation of factory employeesand ensures training is current and meets regulatory requirements.

In coordination with the Operations Manager and the HRBusiness partner, actively works to support a plant safety culture.

Performs inspections and helps with incident investigations,conducts safety audits, assists in the preparation of reports and interactswith Corporate EHS, regulatory agencies, consultants and vendors.

Administers and maintains documents for all EHS policies,written programs, and training programs

Administers safety projects and Safety Incentive Programs.

Maintains critical OSHA records and statistics, includingthe OSHA 300 Log, Total Case Incident Rates, DART Rates, and AccidentInvestigation documents. Provides accurate and timely reports to Corporate EHS.

Facilitates EHS Committee and ensure minutes are being takenand projects being completed.

Monitors risk management activities necessary to ensure thecompany maintains a safe work environment for employees and that they are incompliance with federal, state and/or local requirements.

Monitors customer relations; develop RCA/ImplementCorrective Actions/Escalate.

Monitors the continual improvement of Safety effort for thesite to drive increasing Safety performance with the customer.

Participates and support corporate Safety initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

Associates Degree in a related field or equivalent andrelevant work experience.

Knowledge of federal and state safety and health regulationsand laws by OSHA and corresponding state and local agencies.

2 -5 years related experience on shop floor or in a safetyrelated position.

5+ Years' experience in Safety and Risk programs.

Lean Manufacturing experience - green belt a plus.

OSHA 30 Certificate Preferred.

Experience teaching safety courses, first aid, OSHA coursespreferred excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate withall levels of staff and work well independently or on a team.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Systems knowledge (MS Office, Outlook).

Proven time management and organizational skills.

Work involves physical demands typically found in amanufacturing environment, such as but not limited to: prolonged standing,bending, lifting and/or moving materials.

Work is active in nature with frequent walking ofmanufacturing plant, warehouse and distribution areas.

High degree of risk management in terms of Safety aroundlarge and complex machinery. In automated production lines, large, heavy (up to200lbs.) manufacturing machinery continuously in operation.

Maintain appropriate PPE for the plant

Occasional travel, Up to 10% travel
