Position Summary:

Provides leadership to Plant Services Technicians including training, assigning work, and following up to ensure completion as scheduled; and performs a variety of cleaning duties to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.


•         Teaches Plant Services Technicians in cleaning duties; assigns work; and inspects completed work for cleanliness and timeliness.

•         Meets/discusses needs with vendors of cleaning supplies or contractual services.

•         Performs any or all of the duties of a Plant Services Technician to keep offices and plant facilities clean and orderly including:

Ø  Uses brooms, vacuums, waxers, burnishers, powered equipment and mops to clean floors.

Ø  Picks up and disposes of trash and litter in compactor and other trash receptacles.

Ø  Uses rags, sponges and brushes to clean furniture and fixtures.

Ø  Washes walls and other surfaces.

Ø  Collects and crushes cardboard and fiber board drums; utilizes bailer to contain trash materials.

•         Maintains routine log books.

•         Performs all duties in accordance with safety procedures; maintains knowledge of MSDS information on chemicals used in cleaning; ensures Plant Services Technicians do likewise.

•         Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:


High School diploma or GED is required.




One to two years experience janitorial experience.



•         A working knowledge of cleaning activities, use of power and manual tools, and cleaning chemicals

•         Effective English communications skills to understand operating procedures, label instructions for handling chemical cleaners and solvents, and MSDS sheets; to communicate with supervisors and subordinates; and maintain cleaning logs and work description charts. 

Physical Requirements:

Stand/walk and perform physical labor for a large part of the working shift.  Pull, push, squat, etc. to accomplish thorough cleaning.  Perform repetitive job duties for above one-half of the time.  Intermittently lift loads of up to 50 pounds.


Intermittent exposure to noise levels loud enough to require the use of hearing protection in designated areas.  Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc. sufficient to cause minor discomfort.  The need for the employee to wear safety glasses, a uniform, hair net, steel-toed shoes, dust mask, protective gloves and plastic aprons, as necessary.


The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
