Network Engineer

Job Purpose

We are looking for a Network Engineer that can thrive in a challenging and rewarding environment. This person will help implement, troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks as set forth below.

Nature of Duties:

  • Supports assigned networking products by maintaining appropriate levels of hardware and  software

  • Installs and configures products for which responsible

  • Assists other engineers / technical staff, in troubleshooting issues

  • Monitors data relating to the status of equipment within the network and informs appropriate staff

  • Raises appropriate alarms and corrective action requests in response to automated alerts -Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Creates and updates project and site documentation as directed

  • Installs, tests and troubleshoots networking hardware and software products

  • Develops and maintains network documentation that describes physical and logical integration as well as implementation and management standards

  • Performs research in support of the infrastructure within the areas of responsibility

  • Provides training on specific products to other associates

  • Supports systems that are composed of multiple product suites (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, network service appliances such as SSLVPN)

  • Tests and develops integration of multiple networking hardware and software products and infrastructure

  • Performs research in support of the architecture that the network infrastructure products are implemented

  • Acts as an escalation resource for on-call staff

  • Participates in On-Call rotation

  • Assists in preparation of BOM and SOW

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering or Computer Engineering.

  • 2 – 6 years in IT Network experience in a corporate environment is preferred.

  • Current CCNA/CCNP track preferred.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move all components of PC workstations, servers, network equipment, peripherals, and other ancillary equipment

  • Ability to traveling domestic and International

  • A practical level of experience implementing and administering common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of WAN Technologies ATM, MPLS, Frame Relay, Point to Point, Vendor managed services, WAN Acceleration, IP Routing OSPF, BGP, Policy Based Routing Access Control Lists, Traffic Classification and QoS Implementation, Cisco Internet working Technologies Routers, and Switches, Network Management such as Radius, TACACS, Sniffer, Wireshark protocol analyzers, Solarwinds

  • Experienced network/topology modeling with tools such as OPNET, Cisco Modeling Labs, or NetSim, Gateway Redundancy protocols like HSRP & GLBP.

  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting with:

-Routing technologies and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP

-QOS and experience with IP voice and video deployments will be a plus

-Implement Layer 2 & 3 network switching technologies

-Cisco IOS based platforms

-Security technologies and concepts with hands-on experience with firewall and VPN Implementations

-Wireless technologies and exposure to Cisco Unified Wireless platforms

-SNMP based management tools and Netflow or similar tools

-Performing packet capture and analysis using tools such as Wireshark ​

-Large LAN and WAN environments

-Large data centers, virtualization technologies and cloud computing infrastructure
