Job Description

Summary of position:

Receives  manufactured parts for deburring. Deburrs every part and gives the necessary finish which meets requirements per Bill of Material. Checks and inspects the quality of incoming parts against predetermined tolerances in terms of scratched and mark.

Essential functions and duties:

•         Grind, sands, clean or polishes objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.

•         Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, and measuring their dimensions

•         Move controls to adjust, start, or stop equipment during grinding and polishing processes.

•         Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met.

•         Trim, scrape, or deburr objects or parts, using chisels, scrapers, and other hand tools.

•         File, grooved, contoured and irregular surfaces of metal objects, to conform to templates, other parts, layouts or blueprint specifications.

•         Mark defects, such as knotholes, cracks, and splits, for repair.

•         Record product and processing data on specified forms.

•         Apply solutions and chemicals to equipment, objects or parts using hand tools.

•         Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devices

•         Remove completed work pieces from equipment or work tables, using hand tools, and place work pieces in containers.

•         Study blueprints or layouts to determine how to lay out work pieces

Non-essential functions and duties:

•         Sharpen abrasive grinding tools, using machines or hand tools.

•         Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

•         Wear PPE as needed.

•         Follows all safety and health guidelines/rules for the machine shop

•         Keeps work area clean by sweeping, wiping down machines, etc.

•         Follows the 5s procedures for department

•         Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

•         Must have a high school diploma or GED

•         Must have a good understanding of metals, and plastics

•         Must have the ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.

•         Must be able to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.

•         Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

•         Must be able to verbally communicate

•         Must be able to observer and hear warning signs and signals within all areas of the company.

Language skills:

•         Ability to read and interpret training documents, safety rules, and procedural documents and blue prints

Mathematical skills:

•         The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem

Reasoning ability:

•         The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

•         The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
